City of Vienna City Council met Sept. 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council of the City of Vienna met in regular session at Vienna City Hall with the following members and guest:

ELECTED/APPOINTED OFFICIALS PRESENT: 

Jon Simmons, Mayor 

Alan Racey, Alderman 

Debbie Riddle, Alderman 

Richard Owen, Alderman 

Melissa Hill, Alderman 

Austin Tuey, Alderman 

Steve Penrod, Alderman 

Diana Steele, Adm for City Clerk

Jim Miller, Police Chief 

Shane Racey, Supt 

Michelle Meyers, Treasurer 

Phil Morris, Depot

ELECTED/APPOINTED OFFICIALS ABSENT: 

Aleatha Wright, City Clerk

Brent Williams, Fire Chief

There being a quorum, Mayor Simmons called the meeting of the Vienna City Council to order at 6:30 p.m.

GUESTS: Max Hook, Ball Park Mike Buhler, Vienna Times

NEW BUSINESS

Alderman Racey made a motion to Approve the Omnibus Consent Agenda consisting of the September 4th, 2019 Council Meeting Minutes and the Warrant ($51,417.51). Alderman Riddle seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried.

Max Hook provided Council with estimate on new fencing from Terrace Fence Company to replace fence at ballpark field #1. Discussion centered on cost of repair and if JCYL and VHS would split the cost of replacing the fence with the City. Decision was made to table until next Council meeting and that Max Hook will talk with all parties involved and bring back to Council. Mayor Simmons praised Hook for going beyond with all his hard work and dedication to the Ball Park for the city.

Phil Morris Depot presented Council with purses made by a local crafts person, to sell at the Depot. Penrod made a motion to Authorize and Approve $1000.00 from the Tourism Fund to purchase items to be sold at the Depot. Motion Seconded by Tuey. Motion carried. 5 yea's, 1 abstained.

CITY ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS 

Mayor Simmons mentioned the large crowd turnout for the Junk Jamboree, City Clerk at conference and bringing back information on the new laws required for Cities for the sale of Marijuana. Mayor Simmons thanked all the staff at City Hall for their hard work. Mayor Simmons praised Alex Miller's Eagle Scout Troop 41, project for the first sign that was completed at the Trail by the Forest Service office. Along with the staff at City Hall for their hard work,

Steele asked for consent to order shirts for elected/appointed/dept. heads. Council all in favor. 6 yea's.

Supt. Racey informed council of the need to purchase a pressure washer and new swings at the City Park. Owen made a motion to approved the purchase of the pressure washer and swings, Seconded by Penrod. All in favor Supt. Racey informed Council of sign donated by Lonnie Hinton, Council was in favor of donating sign to the Elks Club.

Chief Miller said Alex Miller's Eagle Scout Project sign was up. Simmons praised Alex Miller's Eagle Scout Troop 41 project for the first sign that was completed at the Trail by the Forest Service office. Miller also provided pictures of a property located within City limits that needs addressed along with others. Council asked for notices to be given to property owners.

Alderman Racey commended Supt. Racey and workers for the excellent job on the sidewalks on 6th ST. Mayor Simmons stated that the men do an excellent job keeping our City looking good. Alderman Racey further noted that the sign is closer to working at the Depot

As there was no further business to discus, Alderman Racey made a motion to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Alderman Penrod. Motion Carried.

Mayor Simmons declared the meeting adjourned at 7:22 p.m.
