CITY OF EAST PEORIA: Liam's Blanket Drive

Local Government

By Press release submission | Dec 4, 2019

City of East Peoria issued the following announcement on Dec. 2.

You can help Liam Oedewalt in his quest to provide warm blankets and socks to people who are homeless by donating to Liam's Blanket Drive. This is the third year the East Peoria 12-year-old has collected blankets, which will be donated to the Peoria Rescue Mission and Ester House.

"Everyone deserves to be warm this winter," says Liam.

This year the drive has been expanded to include socks because, as Liam says, "When it's cold outside we need to do everything we can to keep the heat in our feet."

Donated blankets and socks need to be clean, in good condition and free of holes, or new. There is a collection box at East Peoria City Hall, 401 W. Washington St., and donations can be dropped off until Friday, Dec. 20.

Other collection sites are: Tartan Inn, Castaways, Mr. & Mrs. Furniture in Morton, East Peoria Central Junior High School, Shute School, Mel's Cafe, The Tannery in Pekin, Bruns Chiropractic and Rogys on Big Hollow Road in Peoria.
