Illinois State Senate District 53 issued the following announcement on Feb. 19.
State Senator Jason Barickman (R-Bloomington) released the following statement after Illinois Governor JB Pritzker’s 2020 budget address:
“I’m pleased to see the governor’s proposed budget include important priorities such as meeting the minimum requirements for school funding. However, an overall $1.6 billion increase in spending is not realistic, and holding schools and others hostage while voters consider his tax hike is irresponsible. The legislature now has an important job in vetting this proposal and crafting a budget that is realistic and provides stability. I’m also hopeful that we will be able to enact meaningful pro-growth financial reforms that will help the long-term economic viability of the state.
