Village of Sugar Grove Village Board met May 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Michael Kalina, via the public comment email address, expressed his concern that the Village would still incur the traffic from the Crown development, but not receive the tax benefits if the project is developed in another town.

Michael and Linda Assell, via the public comment email address, expressed their opposition to the Crown project and the disconnection of the property.

Pat and Mike Fagel, via the public comment email address, expressed their hope the Village could come to an amenable agreement with Crown for the project.

Len and Peg Bambach, via the public comment email address, expressed their opposition to the Crown project.

A motion was made by Trustee Konen, seconded by Trustee Herron to approve the Consent Agenda. The motion carried by the following vote:

AYE: 6 Konen, Herron, Walter, Lendi, Koch, Montalto

Nays: 0 None

a. Approval: Minutes of the April 21, 2020 Village Board Meeting

b. Approval: Vouchers

c. Proclamation: Public Service Recognition Week

10. Discussion Item

a. Disconnecting the Crown Property

Village Attorney Julien explained that Crown submitted a valid petition for disconnection, and given that this in now a contractual issue not a zoning issue, it would be difficult to successfully defend a denial of the petition. Board discussion ensued after which President Michels directed staff to put the item on the next meeting agenda for a vote.

b. Electric Utility Location for New Residential Construction

The Board discussed staff’s recommendation to require rear yard installation for certain utilities in new residential construction and directed staff to bring the ordinance back for a vote at the next meeting.
