Elmwood Rural Fire Protection District responded to 29 calls in 2018 - 9.4 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Elmwood Rural included 23 fires - 14 structure fires, one vehicle fire and eight other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $5,000 in fire loss - or about $217 per fire.

The department also received four false calls, including two malicious calls and two other false calls.
