Illinois State House District 88 issued the following announcement on Sept. 21.
As we move into the fall there will be more farm vehicles out in the fields and on the roads. As part of National Farm Safety and Health Week the Illinois Department of Labor is reminding Illinoisans to take steps to stay safe around farm vehicles.
According to the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration tractor overturns are the leading cause of deaths in the agriculture industry, totaling about 130 each year. We also see many accidents on our highways this time of year due to drivers who fail to reduce speed for a piece of farm equipment on the roads.
