Quest Charter Academy received a $10,000 reward from the Community Foundation of Central Illinois for the school's remote learning needs, according to a Peoria Area Chamber news release.
"Increasing access to remote learning needs has been essential for all school districts this year and funding to make the necessary adjustments is a big part of that," Mark Robers, the CEO and president of the foundation, said in the news release.
The foundation usually awards money to Quest to help with field trips, but with limited field trips happening due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the foundation wanted to do something different.
"The CFCI board of directors was in full support of making this modification that will ultimately enhance student STEM skills by hopefully easing some of the burdens," he said.
Jay Landers, the chief development officer for Quest, said the school was grateful for the funding flexibility because it would help offset the costs of the challenges of remote learning.
