More than five dozen Decatur small businesses will collectively receive more than $600,000 to help pay for expenses endured during the COVID-19 pandemic, the city said in a release.
It's all a part of the Decatur Small Business Rapid Relief Funds and the Department of Commerce Economic Opportunity CURE-ES program. The goal is to help reimburse small businesses in the city for PPE purchases, upgrades to outdoor dining and help with mortgages, rent and utilities from March 1 through the end of 2020.
The city said 66 businesses received a portion of $615,017 during the first round of grants. It equals a little more than half of the funding allotted to the city.
Hotels, bars, restaurants and other small businesses are encouraged to apply for the second round of grant funding.
Decatur officials expect to announce the businesses that will receive money in the next round soon.
