City of Mason City Council met November 23

City of Mason City Council met Nov. 23

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Call to order by Mayor Bruce Lowe at approximately 7:00 P.M.  Alderperson Julie Mize acted as recording secretary.

Council members physically present were Gerald Mahin, Jim Miller, Danny Mason, Julie Mize, and Kevin Snyder. Treasurer Mike Griffin, Superintendent Wayne Dixon also attended the meeting. Alderman Scott Francis and Clerk Michele Whitehead were absent.

There were no citizens present at the meeting.

The minutes of the October 26, 2020 regular meeting were approved

R20-83Alderman Snyder moved, seconded by Alderman Mize to approve the regular minutes of the October 26th, 2020 meeting

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Absent: Alderman Francis

Chairman declared motion carried.

R20-84/ O 20-05 Alderman Miller moved, seconded by Alderman Mason to approve the annual Tax Levy

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Absent: Alderman Francis

Chairman declared motion carried.

R20-85 Alderman Mize moved, seconded by Alderman Mason to approve the expense of Hepatitis vaccines for employees.

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Absent: Alderman Francis

Chairman declared motion carried. 

R20-86 Alderman Miller moved, seconded by Alderman Mason to approve the per diem for meals for trainee Otey while at training.

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Absent: Alderman Francis

Chairman declared motion carried.

R20-87 Alderman Miller moved, seconded by Alderman Mason to approve the hiring of Jordan Bradshaw as the new public works employee.

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Absent: Alderman Francis

Chairman declared motion carried.

R20-88 Alderman Miller moved, seconded by Alderman Mason to approve paying 2 weeks straight regular pay to employees who are required to quarantine.   Longer required quarantine approved on an as needed basis after review.

Ayes: Alderpersons Mize, Snyder, Miller, Mahin, and Mason

Nays: None

Absent: Alderman Francis

Chairman declared motion carried. 

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 7:43 P.M.
