City of Eureka City Council Met June 21.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The Eureka City Council convened in regular session at 7:30 p.m. Mayor Eric Lind called the meeting to order and after a moment of silence led The Pledge of Allegiance and then directed the City Clerk to call the roll. Present were Aldermen Chambliss, Germann, Logan, Peterson, Teegarden, Williams and Wilson. Aldermen L. Klaus was absent. Also in attendance were Lynn Hinnen, Treasurer and City Services Director Melissa Brown.

Moved by Peterson, second by Wilson, to approve the minutes of the June 7, 2021, regular meeting of the City Council. Passed on roll call vote with Aldermen Peterson, Wilson, Chambliss, Germann, Logan, Teegarden, and Williams all voting Aye.

Moved by Teegarden, second by Peterson, to approve the Treasurer’s Report for the month ending May 31, 2021. Passed on roll call vote with Aldermen Teegarden, Peterson, Chambliss, Germann, Logan, Williams and Wilson all voting Aye.

The Mayor asked for public comments on any action to be taken on Agenda items. There were none.

Moved by Chambliss, second by Germann, to approve and pay the bills as the City’s obligation in the amount of $30,624.46. The City received $215,000 from the CARE Act. Passed on roll call vote with Aldermen Chambliss, Germann, Logan, Peterson, Teegarden, Williams and Wilson all voting Aye.

Moved by Teegarden, second by Peterson, to accept the bid from Hoerr Construction for the 2021 sewer lining project. The bid is $101,890.00. Passed on roll call vote with Aldermen Teegarden, Peterson, Chambliss, Germann, Logan, Williams and Wilson all voting Aye.

Moved by Peterson, second by Wilson, to move into Executive Session pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2.06 (d) to semi-annually review closed session minutes. Passed on roll call vote with Peterson, Wilson, Chambliss, Germann, Logan, Teegarden, and Williams all voting Aye.

Moved by Teegarden, second by Peterson, to reconvene from Executive Session pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2 (d) to semi-annually review closed session minutes. Passed on roll call vote with Teegarden, Peterson, Chambliss, Germann, Logan, Williams and Wilson all voting Aye.

Let the record show that the semiannual review of executive session minutes was discussed in Executive Session.

Moved by Teegarden, second by Peterson, to approve Resolution 21-09, a resolution regarding the release and non-release of Executive Session minutes. Passed on roll call vote with Aldermen Teegarden, Peterson, Chambliss, Germann, Logan, Williams and Wilson all voting Aye. At this time no Executive Session minutes will be released.

Committee Reports:

Chairman Chambliss of the Budget Committee: No report

Chairman Chambliss of the Administration and Personnel Committee: No report

Chairman Teegarden of the Enterprise Committee: No report

Chairman Peterson of the Maintenance Committee: No report

Chairman L. Klaus of the Public Safety Committee: Absent

Chairman Germann of the Park and Recreation Committee: July 3 is the Parade since the 4th is on a Sunday and the parade time is church time. July 4 is the concert and fireworks at the Park.

Chairman Teegarden of the Economic Development & Tourism Committee: No report.

Chairman Mayor Lind of the Liquor Committee: No report

New Business: Melissa extended a thank you to all who have responded to help with the July 3 and 4 events. July 2 we will decorate the float. Volunteers will be riding on the City float on July 3. July 4 volunteers will help with traffic control.

Heidi Thorndyke sent a video of the planting of five trees at the Park in honor of Jim Vietti. Melissa attempted to show the video, but it didn’t work. We will see this at the next meeting.

There being no further business to come before the Council the meeting adjourned at 7:57 p.m.
