City of Mason City Council met Jan. 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Call to order by Mayor Bruce Lowe at approximately 6:00 P.M.

Council members physically present were Gerald Mahin, Julie Mize, Kevin Snyder, and Jim Miller. Treasurer Mike Griffin along with Superintendent Dixon also attended the meeting. Clerk Michele Whitehead, Aldermen Francis and Mason were all absent. Assistant Chief Donovan joined the meeting via telephone. Gavin Maliska was also present.

Minutes, Treasurer’s report and bills were approved.

R22-01Alderman Miller moved, seconded by alderman Snyder to approve the minutes, treasurer’s report and bills.

Ayes: Mahin, Mize, Snyder, Miller

Nays: None

Absent: Mason, Francis

Chairman declared motion carried.

A request was made by the Hideout Bar to have a dumpster in the alley for a month or so in order to do some remodeling. The Council agreed to the request.

Bidding documents for Leander Construction for Well #8 were approved.

R22-02Alderman Miller moved, seconded by alderman Snyder to approve the bidding documents for Leander Construction for Well #8.

Ayes: Mahin, Mize, Snyder, Miller

Nays: None

Absent: Mason, Francis

Chairman declared motion carried.

R22-03Alderman Miller moved, seconded by alderman Snyder to approve change order #1 for the 2021 CIPP Sewer Rehab project.

Ayes: Mahin, Mize, Snyder, Miller

Nays: None

Absent: Mason, Francis

Chairman declared motion carried.

R22-04Alderman Snyder moved, seconded by alderman Miller to approve insulation costs for the Pine Street public works shed/shop.

Ayes: Mahin, Mize, Snyder, Miller

Nays: None

Absent: Mason, Francis

Chairman declared motion carried.

The Council and Superintendent Dixon are still collecting bids for the Lagoon storage building .

R22-05Alderman Miller moved, seconded by alderman Snyder to approve repairs to the salt shed roof.

Ayes: Mahin, Mize, Snyder, Miller

Nays: None

Absent: Mason, Francis

Chairman declared motion carried.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned into executive session at 7:15 to discuss Personnel 5ILCS © (1) (2).

The regular session resumed at 7:22 P.M.

Alderman Snyder moved, seconded by alderman Miller to approve Interim Chief Dononvan’s increase in pay to current Chief pay while he serves in the Interim Chief capacity.

Ayes: Mahin, Mize, Snyder, Miller

Nays: None

Absent: Mason, Francis

Chairman declared motion carried.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 7:25 P.M.
