City of Eureka City Council met Sept. 1.

The Eureka City Council convened in regular session at 7:30 p.m. Mayor Eric Lind called the meeting to order and after a moment of silence led The Pledge of Allegiance and then directed the City Clerk to call the roll. Present were Aldermen Germann, Klaus, Logan, Peterson, Teegarden, and Wilson. Aldermen Chambliss and Williams were absent. Also in attendance were Lynn Hinnen, Treasurer; Erik Hasselbacher, Director of Public Works; Assistant Chief Kim Jones and Melissa Brown, City Services Coordinator.
Moved by Wilson, second by Peterson, to approve the minutes of the August 15, 2022, regular meeting of the City Council. Passed on roll call vote with Aldermen Wilson, Peterson, Germann, Klaus, Logan, and Teegarden all voting Aye.
Moved by Peterson, second by Wilson, to approve the minutes of the Park Committee meetings for August 1 and 30, 2022 and the Public Safety Committee meeting on August 1, 2022. Passed on roll call vote with Aldermen Peterson, Wilson, Germann, Klaus, Logan, and Teegarden all voting Aye.
The Mayor asked for public comments on any action to be taken on Agenda items. There were none.
Moved by Peterson, second by Germann, to approve and pay the bills as the City's obligation in the amount of $354,372.32. Passed on roll call vote with Aldermen Peterson, Germann, Klaus, Logan, Teegarden, and Wilson all voting Aye
Moved by Wilson, second by Peterson, to move into Executive Session pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(5) for discussion of purchase, lease, or acquisition of property. Passed on roll call vote with Wilson, Peterson, Germann, Klaus, Logan, and Teegarden all voting Aye.
Moved by Teegarden, second by Peterson, to reconvene from Executive Session pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(5) for discussion of purchase, lease, or acquisition of property. Passed on roll call vote with Teegarden, Peterson, Germann, Klaus, Logan, and Wilson all voting Aye.
Let the record show that the use and purchase of property was discussed in Executive Session.

Chairman Germann of the Park and Recreation Committee: There will be a public input open house at the City Building on Thursday, September 8, concerning the DNR Grant for the Lake Park. The request for the Grant is due September 30.
Chairman Teegarden of the Economic Development Committee: No report
Chairman Mayor Lind of the Liquor Committee: No report
New Business: Peterson asked how we would measure the interest of items and their priorities at the September 8 meeting. He suggested that we have a survey for the attendees to fill out.
Public Comments: Greg Walraven who lives on Mitchell Drive asked that the City consider permits for golf carts to drive on City streets. The Mayor will take this to committee.
There being no further business to come before the Council the meeting adjourned at 8:04 p.m.
