Aggravated Battery with a Firearm
Thursday, December 15, 2022, at approximately 11:35 a.m. Peoria Police responded to the 700 block of W. Joan Court regarding a male shot in the hand.
When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult male victim with a minor injury to his hand. The victim told police that a verbal argument occurred between him, and the shooting suspect identified as 63-year-old Charles E. Jackson. During the course of the argument, the victim told officers Jackson left and a short time later returned with a handgun and fired one round at him.
Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Special Investigations Division (SID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU) and Patrol Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
A short time later, Jackson returned to the scene and was immediately placed into custody without incident. He was arrested for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Reckless Conduct.
Jackson was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
