City of Chillicothe Public Safety Committee met Oct. 18.

Members of the Public Safety Committee met in person at 5:25 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.

Chairman Jenkins called the meeting to order at 5:25 p.m.
Public Comment:
None
Purpose:
SPECIAL EVENT REQUEST – CHAMBER OF COMMERCE – Merchant
Clerk Byrnes presented the request as submitted by Chillicothe Chamber of Commerce for Merchant Trick or Treat to be held Friday October 28th, 2022 from 3 to 5 p.m. The consensus of the committee was to bring this request to the October 24, 2022 council meeting for approval.
MEG – Fiduciary
Chief Mettille reported on the MEG Fiduciary requirements. He explained the potential increase in cost for an audit. He is working with other entities to potentially take the responsibility of the fiduciary to any increased cost to the city. He will report back to the committee with further information at a later date.
Employment Agreement – Koser
Chief Mettille explained that Officer Koser has a contract agreement with Bradley in the amount of $10,000. Chief Mettille recommended that the city consider paying Bradley $5000.00 towards Officer Koser’ s contract in exchange for a 3 year employment agreement with the City of Chillicothe Police Department . A discussion ensued. The consensus of the committee was to bring this request to the October 24, 2022 council meeting for approval.
UPDATE: CHILLICOTHE POLICE DPARTMENT:
Chief Mettille gave a verbal report on the budget.
NEW/ OLD PROPERTY MAINTENANCE:
None.
OLD BUSINESS:
Chief Mettille gave an update regarding the use of police vehicles.
