Peoria Standard

There were two offenders convicted of sex crimes living in Peoria County released on parole during the third quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Peoria Standard.

The data shows both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. Of the parolees sentenced for sex crimes, one was a veteran, and the median age was 53. The younger parolee was a 47-year-old man sentenced in 2018, and the oldest was a 59-year-old man sentenced in 2015.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was August Hoffman. He was convicted in 2018 when he was 42 years old. He is now 47.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
