VI) Mayor’s Announcements/Correspondence

The Village Administrator said IDOT will begin pavement evaluations on 159 for road improvements. Things slowed down to lack of railroad flaggers, but they are hoping to get things done this year. On Thursday, Friday, and Monday there will be intermittent lane closures. Illinois passed an act and there will be unfunded mandates for additional vacation for municipalities. There are no significant updates on Boul Ave with no definite timeline. The Village Administrator said UMSL is doing a certificate for planning and zoning board members and elected officials from Oct 19th – Dec 7th. He asked if the board would like to fund it. It is $400 a person for all modules. Trustee Parker, Trustee Lanter, and Trustee McDonald liked the idea. The Village Administrator said a resolution is not needed. MFT training is coming soon on Oct 23rd. Board President Leopold said to have the Village Administrator and Director of Public Works there. The Village Administrator said there will be a full assessment of all buildings post storm soon. He will be heading to IML this Wednesday and won’t be at the first October meeting because he will be at a meeting for city managers. Board President Leopold said he won’t be there either because he is in charge of the memorial hospital auction and dinner. He asked if it could be moved. The Village Administrator said it could be. Trustee McDonald said he has no problem with moving it. Board President Leopold said to push it to the next Monday. Trustee Lanter said he won’t be there the 9th. The meetings were moved to the 9th and the 23rd. The Treasurer said he won’t be there the 23rd.

VII) Village Attorney/Village Administrator-Announcements/Comment

1. Department Head Reports

a. Public Works/Sewer Department

A working fountain has been installed at Clinton hills as of this afternoon. Trustee McDonald asked how many gallons are processed a month at the sewer plant. The Director of Public Works said the daily average could be 5.87 million, but it is less than 2 million a day.

b. Police Department Monthly Stats

He said they are reviewing emergency plans and making good headway. He is still looking for later candidates. There are only three so far. He will be out of town until Oct 9th. Trustee McDonald asked if anything was worked out with the code enforcers. Chief Blomberg said he reached out to partner agencies and they are hammering through their requirements. c. Fire Department Monthly Stats

The open house is Oct 8th from 11 am to 2pm. Tomorrow he and several others will be going through resumes for Deputy Fire Chief. The Village Administrator said there are 9 or 10. He would like to talk to Chief Tell and Trustee Parker about some qualified non local candidates. Last Friday he went with Ben Sullins to firefighter of the year. Ben got firefighter of the year and he would like to recognize Ben at the next meeting. Bianca is going through the BOF class right now. She is doing an outstanding job. Today the fire department was given an EV tank for electrical vheicles that catch fire. It holds 4,000 gallons and is set up around the vehicle and then filled with water. It was given at no cost. He asked if he could leave early to get up to some training. Board President Leopold said Chief Tell is going to be a new father and congratulated him. Chief Tell left. d. Building and Zoning Department

The Building and Zoning Director said the redesigned website came out and they’ve been working to allow people to register their emails to be alerted when agendas come out.

IX) Public Comment

A member of the public asked how the Deppe situation is moving along. Board President Leopold said it is in the hands of the attorneys. The member of the public said things are being moved out and asked what will happen with the buildings. Board President Leopold said that is step 2 and is in the hands of the attorneys. Another member of the public said he lives on Wood Field and asked about a project occurring. The Village Administrator said the people in charge of the project are doing a traffic study and he does not have a timeline. Trustee Thouvenot said the single family homes will be owned not rented.

XI) Old Business

Trustee McDonald asked about Schnucks. The Village Administrator said he left a voicemail last week. The Building and Zoning Director said he sent a notice about the concrete blocks last year. Trustee Lanter asked about a trailer that burnt down. The Building and Zoning Director said he will look it up and add it to the list. Trustee Lanter wanted to make sure there is an update next meeting about the properties that are going to be torn down.
