The city of Peoria has announced the launch of the Non-Profit Capital Program, which aims to provide support to local non-profit organizations serving low-income community members in Peoria. The program, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, will accept applications from Monday, February 12th at 9:00 AM through Friday, March 8th at 2:00 PM.
According to city officials, the Non-Profit Capital Program will provide grants ranging from $50,000 to $75,000 specifically for capital expenses. These funds can be used for a variety of projects that directly benefit the organization and its clients. Examples of eligible projects include structural improvements like roof replacements, installation of major mechanical systems, and the purchase of vans for client transportation.
However, it is important to note that the program funds cannot be utilized for ongoing operating costs or maintenance expenses. Ineligible projects include the purchase of land or buildings, construction equipment, staff expenses, and office furnishings or supplies.
To apply for the Non-Profit Capital Program, interested organizations must submit their applications online through the Non-Profit Capital Program page. The applications will then be reviewed by the CDBG Public Services Advisory Commission, and the funding decisions will be made following City Council approval.
