In response to LaHood's inquiries about the importance of Section 702, Director Burns affirmed, "702 has been absolutely crucial. Last year, for example, 70% of the successful CIA disruptions of illicit synthetic drug operations came as a result of 702." The congressman's efforts to reform and reauthorize Section 702 of FISA were commended for enhancing national security and protecting Americans from evolving threats.
