The City of Peoria Department of Public Works is set to hold its annual free mulch giveaways on three Saturdays in April and May. Residents of the City of Peoria and Peoria County are invited to participate in the events at the Public Works Facility on Dries Lane.
The giveaways will occur on April 20, April 27, and May 4, starting at 8 am and running until 1 pm each day. Participants are assured that mulch will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis, with no restrictions on the amount that residents can take. Those who prefer hand-loading their mulch are encouraged to bring gloves, shovels, and containers.
In a bid to assist attendees with the loading process, staff will be present to help load mulch into trucks and trailers. However, for those who may miss out on the initial giveaways, there will be an opportunity to collect remaining mulch on May 4 through a hand-loading process only.
