Grand Jury Indicts Man Who Punched Police Officer; Additional Charges Filed

Peoria, IL – Eric Anderson, 33, has been indicted by the Peoria County Grand Jury on charges of Aggravated Battery on a Police Officer for assaulting a Peoria Police officer. Two additional Aggravated Battery charges were also brought before the Grand Jury and resulted in indictments.

According to reports, Anderson was involved in multiple violent incidents leading to the indictments. One incident occurred on March 8 at Sharon Woods in Peoria, where Anderson reportedly assaulted a staff member. Another incident took place on March 30 when Anderson allegedly punched a CityLink bus driver in the face before fleeing the scene, with the attack captured on the bus's security camera.

The most recent incident transpired on April 12 at the Becker building in downtown Peoria, where Anderson, who was found sleeping and identified as the homeless man in question, attacked a police officer during his arrest, causing injury. Anderson has been held in custody since the event and is set to remain incarcerated until trial.
