Road closures for Juneteenth parade in Peoria

Beginning at 10:45 am and lasting until approximately 2 pm on Saturday, June 15, various roads along and near the MacArthur Highway corridor will be temporarily restricted due to the Ernestine Jackson Juneteenth Freedom Day Parade sponsored by the NAACP Peoria Branch.

Drivers should follow all marked detours. Traffic should utilize the detour routes of Howett Street to Western Avenue to Moss Avenue, and Moss Avenue to Western Avenue to Lincoln Avenue. Drivers are advised to exercise caution along the parade route.

The parade will begin near Martin Luther King Jr. Park. It will travel north on MacArthur Highway, east on John Gwynn Avenue, south on Richard Pryor Place, and west on McBean Street.

Closures and restrictions include:

- MacArthur Highway will be closed at Jefferson Avenue and Moss Avenue with no through traffic.

- Persimmon Street will be closed at Jefferson Avenue.

- New Street will be closed at Howett Street.

- S.W. Howett Street will be closed at Linden Street.

- Millman Street will be closed at MacArthur Highway.

- Brotherson Street will be closed at MacArthur Highway.

- McBean Street will be closed at MacArthur Highway.

- Johnson Street will be closed at MacArthur Highway and Richard Pryor Place.

- Smith Street will be closed at MacArthur Highway.

- Hurlburt Street will be closed at MacArthur Highway and Richard Pryor Place.

- Aiken Avenue will be closed at MacArthur Highway.

- Adrian G. Hinton Jr. Avenue will be closed at MacArthur Highway.

- John H. Gwynn Jr. Avenue will be closed at MacArthur Highway and Richard Pryor Place.

- Martin Luther King Jr. Drive will be closed at MacArthur Highway.

- McReynolds Court will be closed at John H. Gwynn Jr.

- Merriman Street will be closed at McBean Street.

- Reed Street will be closed at Richard Pryor Place.

Parking restrictions along the parade route from 10:45 am to approximately 2 pm.
