The city of Peoria Community Development Department is hosting its annual Great Neighbor Appreciation Week from July 15 through July 20. This weeklong event celebrates community members, businesses, and nonprofit organizations that contribute to making Peoria a great place to live.
On Saturday, July 13, staff will be present at the Riverfront Market from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM to promote the week and encourage community members to complete the HUD Consolidated Plan Survey.
Monday, July 15 is designated as Nonprofit Appreciation Day. Community Development staff will visit nonprofits to thank them for their contributions.
Tuesday, July 16 is Code Encouragement Day. Staff will distribute Good Job Door Hangers to neighbors who excel in maintaining their yards and properties.
Wednesday, July 17 is Local Business Appreciation Day. Staff will visit small and local businesses to express gratitude for their efforts.
On Thursday, July 18, Parks on Tap at Morton Square Park will take place from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Staff will have a table promoting the Citywide Cleanup and encouraging completion of the HUD Consolidated Plan survey.
Friday, July 19 will see another Code Encouragement Day with staff distributing Good Job Door Hangers once again.
The week concludes on Saturday, July 20 with a City-Wide Cleanup from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Community members are invited to join neighbors, local organizations, and businesses at one of several cleanup locations:
- Southside: Former Tyng School, 2212 W Ann Street
- North Valley: Morton Square Park, 901 NE Monroe Street
- East Bluff: East Bluff Community Center, 512 E Kansas Street
- Center Bluff: McClure Library, 315 W McClure Avenue
- West Bluff: West Main Street City parking lot, 714 W Main Street
