Public Works crews are engaged in debris cleanup following last night's heavy rains, high winds, and strong thunderstorms that affected much of the city.

Crews worked overnight to clear numerous fallen trees and limbs obstructing streets and sidewalks. Cleanup efforts are expected to continue over the next few days.

Residents needing to report a downed tree or limb blocking a street, alley, or sidewalk can do so by contacting Public Works at 309-494-8800 or via email at publicworks@peoriagov.org. Alternatively, reports can be made through Peoria Cares Service Requests by phone at 309-494-2273, through the Peoria Cares app, or via the Peoria Cares website.

Residents are reminded that storm debris should be bundled with a nonmetallic cord, be no more than five feet long, weigh no more than 50 pounds, and set out on the curb on their normal GFL collection day.

Due to the severity of the thunderstorms, several traffic signals at various intersections throughout the city are either on all-flash mode or completely out. Crews have been working diligently to restore full operations of these traffic signals.

For more information regarding cleanup efforts, contact Public Works at 309-494-8800.
