City of Pekin Fire and Police Commission met June 27.

Call to Order

Approve Agenda

A motion was made by Commissioner Jaskiewicz to approve the agenda. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Mulvey, all approved.

Approval of Minutes

3.1. Minutes from the May 23, 2024, Meeting

A motion was made by Commissioner Jaskiewicz to approve the May 23, 2024, meeting minutes. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Mulvey, all approved.

Public Input

Consent Agenda

A motion was made by Commissioner Jaskiewicz to receive and file these reports. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Mulvey, all approved.

5.1. FD - Pre-employment exam, $150.00

5.2. PD - Pre-employment exam, $150.00

5.3. Recognition Plaques, $27.00

New Business

7.1. FD - Probationary Reports

One firefighter has been put on a performance improvement plan during their paramedic class. There are four currently in the paramedic program.

7.2. PD - Probationary Reports

Everyone is doing well who was in the FTO program and has finished except one, as they had mandatory military leave. No current issues.

7.3. PD - Retirement Letter

Executive Session - Executive Session 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)

Any Other Business to Come Before the Commission

The Fire Department has made an employment offer to the first name on the current list. They are expected to be sworn in on July 22nd to go to the Fire Academy. The Police Department is currently working on changes to hiring policies, and will be bringing them to the Commission for approval in the coming months.
