While winter weather is not on the minds of many at this time of year, the Department of Public Works continues its preparations. The department's annual Paint a Plow Program is commencing to educate residents about best practices for drivers and pedestrians when encountering snowplows and driving on city streets.
The Paint a Plow Program is open to Peoria Public Schools students and area organizations. The art-covered snowplow blades will be mounted on plow trucks and used throughout the winter season.
Public Works is currently accepting applications for the program. Interested parties should complete an application and participation waiver, which can be found at Paint a Plow. Applications will be accepted until Friday, Sept. 13, with applicants selected and plows delivered between Sept. 16 and Oct. 11.
