The City of Peoria reminds residents that all private signs—political, yard sale, temporary business, or otherwise—are prohibited in the public right-of-way.

Private signs illegally placed in the right-of-way should be removed as soon as possible. Starting next week, the Department of Public Works will begin removing private signs in the right-of-way.

Right-of-way areas include medians and the areas between the curb and sidewalk. Per City Ordinance, signs cannot exceed 8 square feet on residential properties and 32 square feet on non-residential properties.

For more information or questions regarding signs in the right-of-way, contact Public Works at 309-494-8800.
