FOIA Request to City Of Peoria Finance Department Regarding Sales Tax Records on October 31, 2024.

We at the Peoria Standard, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City Of Peoria Finance Department. The request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.

The request specifically asks for a list of businesses that paid sales tax to the city from January 1, 2023, to October 31, 2024. The desired information includes the business name, business type, and the amount of sales tax paid by each entity during this period.

In addition to this detailed breakdown, we also requested the total amount of sales tax that the city collected from January 1, 2023, to October 31, 2024.

As a media organization committed to transparency and public accountability, access to such public records is essential for us at Peoria Standard. It enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional due to our role in disseminating information.

We await a response from the City Of Peoria Finance Department regarding this request and will keep our readers updated on any developments.
