Rainfall in the City of Peoria has led to a combined sewer overflow into the Illinois River. This incident occurred within the last 24 hours from one or more locations indicated on an available map.

Residents are advised to avoid full-body contact with the Illinois River downstream from Detweiller Marina. "You may get sick if you swallow water while swimming, Jet Skiing, or water skiing in these areas after a combined sewer overflow."

The City of Peoria is undertaking construction projects aimed at reducing combined sewer overflows to the Illinois River during periods of wet weather. These efforts are part of compliance with the Clean Water Act and the CSO Consent Decree.
