Yard waste collection in Peoria will conclude for the year on Friday, December 13. This marks the last opportunity for residents to have their yard waste collected curbside until March 2025.
The types of yard waste eligible for collection include grass clippings, leaves, tree limbs, and brush. Residents can bundle limbs and sticks with nonmetallic cord like twine, ensuring bundles are under five feet in length and weigh less than 50 pounds.
Residents are advised to use their own containers for unbundled materials to avoid damaging city-provided carts. The City of Peoria's carts should be reserved exclusively for recycling and garbage. This practice helps extend the lifespan of these carts.
Acceptable containers include plastic or metal garbage cans between 40 and 45 gallons with two handles and a tight-fitting lid. Wheeled carts that are either 65 or 95 gallons in size are also permissible. All cans or carts should be labeled with “Yard Waste Only” stickers, available at City Hall, Public Works, or any GFL Environmental location.
