The Public Arts Advisory Commission in Peoria has announced that applications are now open for artists wishing to display their work in City Hall's Suite 207. This initiative, requested by Mayor Ali in 2021, allows Peoria-based artists to exhibit their artwork for a year. The policy enabling this was established in December 2021, and the first exhibit took place in January 2022 with six local artists showcasing two-dimensional pieces.
Currently, nine artists have their work on display, with the exhibition running until January 2025. To be eligible for next year's exhibit, applicants must reside or have a studio in Peoria and submit two-dimensional artwork that is framed and ready to hang. Interested individuals can find more details on requirements and view current and past exhibits on the city of Peoria website. Applications will close at 5:00 pm on Friday, January 17, 2025.
Applicants need to provide a completed application form available online, an artist statement, biography, and high-resolution photographs of their work. For further inquiries, Stacy Peterson can be contacted at speterson@peoriagov.org or by calling 309-494-8560.
