The City of Peoria's Department of Public Works has issued a reminder for residents to exercise caution on the roads following a recent snow event. Residents are advised to allow extra time when traveling on area roadways throughout tonight and into tomorrow morning.

Public Works crews have been actively treating the city's main arterial streets, hills, bridges, and overpasses throughout the day and will continue their efforts into the evening and overnight. While city streets remain slick, they are described as very passable.

Plowing of residential streets is scheduled to begin once two inches of snow have accumulated, following the clearing of primary streets and the cessation of snowfall.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down and maintain a safe distance between their vehicles and others, including plow trucks. The reminder includes advice such as "don't crowd the plow," braking early to anticipate slowing or stopping, and gently accelerating and decelerating while driving in snowy conditions.

Additional information regarding this snow event and future winter weather can be found in the City's winter weather plan.
