City of Marquette Heights City Council met Dec. 9.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

CALL TO ORDER

The City Council meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M by Mayor Hamm

ROLL CALL

The following were present for Roll Call: Alderman Babb, Neuhaus, Griener, Neumann, Amundson and Joos.

Also present were Clerk Steele, Treasurer Worent, Street Superintendent Helms, Water Superintendent Smith, Police Chief Merritt, Office Manager Fogle and Attorney Herman

Absent:

Fire Chief Hermacinski and Building Inspector Dearborn

• Mayoral Proclamation for Coleen Lickess

• Submitted rental registration report

o We have many landlords who did not pay fee this year

Communication

Citizens Wishing to Address the Council

• Mary Bumbalo, 320 St Clair

o Conversation over the right of way on the road at Kickapoo and St. Clair and also on North Court and St. Clair

o Asking for a possible yield or stop sign

o Chief Merritt to contact IDOT

• Kona Ice

o Looking for update on water/sewer for property

o Mayor asking for building plans

o Robin expresses they will not build if there is not service lines

o Mayor will reach out and respond by end of week

• Sandy Heisman- Coleen Lickess daughter

o Thanking everyone for everything during the meeting dedicated to mother

o Thanks Alderman Neuhaus for the invite to the meeting

o Thanks Police for the extra patrols

o Celebration of life will be at LH in January

o Appreciates the Proclamation

§ Half staff flags this week and the week of Celebration of Life

o Will discontinue flower pot at ball diamonds but will maintain Memorial area

o Talking about donating to the city in a way they can put a “memorial” for her mother like a sign or structure that would also benefit the city

Fire – Alderman Griener

• Insurance will be dealing with the truck repairs

o $500.00 deductible

• Macqueen is on the consent agenda tonight

o Bill has been anticipated for Maintenance

• Chief is absent because he is at his daughters Christmas Party

Streets – Alderman Babb

• Koening sent the city a notice stating they will be extending the new plow truck warranty for 1 year for inconveniences

• Salt spreader needed a slight repair

o Did in house

Parks/Buildings – Alderman Neuman

CONSENT AGENDA

APPROVAL OF THE FOLLOWING CONSENT ITEMS BY VOTE:

(All matters listed under CONSENT AGENDA will be enacted by one motion and one roll call vote.

There will not be separate discussion on these items. If discussion is desired by any Member of the

City Council, the item will be removed from the Consent Agenda and discussed immediately after approval of the Consent Agenda.)

Alderman Neumann made a motion, seconded by Alderman Greiner to approve the Consent Agenda in its entirety. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Alderman Neumann, Neuhaus, Amundson, Joos and Babb. Nays - None. Motion passed.

NEW BUSINESS

CITIZENS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL

ANY OTHER BUSINESS PERTAINING TO THE CITY.

Alderman Joos made a motion to exit regular Council Meeting and enter Executive Session for Compensation on personnel, the discussion of specific personnel and price of sale of land. Alderman Greiner seconded. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.

Council exited regular session and entered executive session at: 7:24 p.m.

Council resumed regular session at: 7:52 p.m.

• Alderman Greiner

o Brightspeed has been in her yard and it is not looking like it did before

o Office has got a couple complaints against and will be following up with Brightspeed

ADJOURNMENT

Alderman Greiner made a motion, seconded by Alderman Neumann to adjourn the regular City Council Meeting at 7:57 p.m. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.
