City of Lewistown Committees met Jan. 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the committees:

UTILITIES, BUILDINGS, & GROUNDS COMMITTEE MEETING

COMMITTEE MEMBERS: Chairman Jim Long, Alderperson Dave Levingston, and Sally Clark.

BUSINESS TO DISCUSS: Update on Website & Logo design from Bald Man Marketing for our Website Redevelopment Project. Mike Osborn presented some ideas of logos and layouts. We want website to be easy to use, maximum of 3 to 4 clicks to find what you are looking for. He presented 6 different logos. Discussion among aldermen that the logo needs to say Illinois and City established date of 1821. Alderperson Ward asked if could do a community vote? Yes maybe put it on Face book, vote for 2 weeks. An app will be included with this new website.

Meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m. by Alderperson Clark second by Alderperson Long.

TIF COMMITTEE MEETING

COMMITTEE MEMBERS: Chairman John Spotloe, Alderperson Dave Levingston, and Kendall Miller.

BUSINESS TO DISCUSS: Discuss TIF application for Lewistown Economic Advancement project with recommendations from our TIF representative Gwen Crawford. PROJECT: Downtown Revitalization Surveys. Assisting amount of $3,200.00 is requested. Erin Ahart and Michelle Spiva present at meeting they want to improve buildings to get them rented out. Maurer and Stutz were approached to check the buildings to see if structures can be improved. This is the Main Street buildings that are empty; have to check for mold thru EPA. Alderperson Levingston asked if not structurally ok and need tore down what happens? Decision left upon the owners. There was a discussion that the current owners do not want to do anything with the buildings. Alderperson Miller feels like the owners should have a notice sent to them to come to meeting to tell us what they are going to do with buildings. TIF attorney recommends that the city pay for the surveys. The buildings are getting dangerous, windows broke. City needs to enforce the ordinance violations. Alderperson Miller said the tax payers should not be paying for someone else's buildings. All agree to have a finance committee meeting to get the owners here. There was a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:15 by Alderperson Spotloe, second by Alderperson Ward.

LIQUOR COMMISSION MEETING

COMMITTEE MEMBERS; Commission Mayor Doug Lafary, Kevin Delmastro,

Alderperson Sally Clark, John Spotloe, and Linda Helle.

BUSINESS TO DISCUSS: Liquor License Application for Lewistown Smoke Shop, LLC. Everything checked out ok in background check. There is a liquor license available. No control over how many poker machines are in town. Need to create an ordinance, has to be on the agenda to control the amount of poker machines. There was a recommendation to approve the Liquor License for the Lewistown Smoke Shop by Linda Helle, A motion to adjourn Liquor Commission meeting by Linda Helle at 6:25 p.m.
