Today, Congressman Darin LaHood expressed his support for the Department of Justice's decision to take legal action against the City of Chicago, the state of Illinois, and Cook County. The lawsuit alleges violations of federal sanctuary city laws.

LaHood criticized local leaders for their handling of immigration enforcement. "Governor Pritzker and Mayor Johnson have failed to enforce the laws of our country allowing illegal immigrants to flood our communities," said Rep. LaHood. He further stated that these violations have allowed "criminals, drug cartels, and human traffickers" to integrate into local communities.

The congressman endorsed President Trump's stance on immigration enforcement, emphasizing that such actions will not be tolerated under his administration. "I applaud the Department of Justice’s decision to sue the City of Chicago, the state of Illinois, and Cook County and I look forward to working with the administration to ensure the laws of the land are fully enforced," LaHood concluded.
