The city of Peoria is set to host the Equity in Procurement Expo on March 27, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Peoria Civic Center, Room 400. This event is organized in partnership with several local organizations including the Peoria NAACP, the Minority Business Development Center, the Illinois State Black Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Peoria Chamber of Commerce.

This annual expo offers business owners, entrepreneurs, and construction professionals a chance to learn about government procurement processes and register with the city's Minority and Women-Owned Business Registry. Attendees will also have opportunities to network with various agencies and financial institutions.

More than 20 agencies such as Peoria County, CityLink, Peoria Park District, and Greater Peoria Sanitary District will be present to provide resources and insights for business growth.

The event will feature panels on topics like regulations and registration processes, finance and banking options, partnering with prime contractors, as well as trades and effective bidding strategies.

Mayor Ali commented on the importance of this event: “This is a wonderful opportunity for minority business owners to learn more about the government procurement process and opportunities to do business with the city and other government entities. This event aims to foster diversity, increase economic empowerment, and grow local businesses within our community.”

Registration for attendance is recommended through the Equity in Procurement Expo webpage where further details are available.
