Construction is set to resume on the Adams Street and Jefferson Avenue One-Way to Two-Way Conversion Project beginning the week of March 3, contingent on weather conditions. The project aims to convert these streets from one-way to two-way traffic.
Motorists should expect work zones, traffic control measures, shifts in traffic patterns, and parking restrictions on both Adams Street and Jefferson Avenue. These changes will be marked accordingly, with parking meters bagged with "No Parking" signs. As construction progresses, parking and lane restrictions will evolve.
The focus this year will be on upgrading intersection corners along Jefferson Avenue. Intersection work is also planned at Adams Street and William Kumpf Boulevard.
The OWTW Project spans two-and-a-half years with a budget of $18.9 million. It includes corner bump-outs for shorter pedestrian crossings, new bike lanes, upgraded traffic signals, and improvements to existing pavement through milling and overlays. Upon completion, each street will feature one lane in each direction along with a bidirectional turn lane.
Adams Street's two-way traffic will extend from Pecan Street to Hamilton Boulevard while Jefferson Avenue's conversion will run from Persimmon Street to Fayette Street. The project is expected to conclude by summer 2026.
