Darin LaHood, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Illinois’ 16th district since 2015, has been actively engaging with issues both national and local in scope through his social media presence. Born in Peoria, Illinois, LaHood is committed to addressing cybersecurity threats and supporting healthcare initiatives.

On March 6, 2025, LaHood addressed concerns regarding cyber threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). "The CCP has repeatedly expressed its intention to become the cyber superpower, increasing cyber attacks and espionage by 150% over the last year." He emphasized the urgency for the United States to address these threats following a recent hearing by the committee on CCP.

Later that day, he shared his experience speaking at an event organized by a foundation dedicated to hemophilia treatments. "Last night, I was honored to speak at @NBD_Foundation’s annual fly-in!" He praised organizations like BCDI under Dr. Tarantino's leadership for their contributions in Central Illinois.

On March 7, LaHood met with officials from Peoria County in Washington D.C., focusing on local economic development. "It was great to meet with some of Peoria County's elected officials in Washington,

DC!" The discussion centered around projects that could bolster support for local businesses.
