Darin LaHood, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois’ 16th district since 2015, recently shared several updates via social media. LaHood, who succeeded Aaron Schock in Congress, often uses these platforms to communicate legislative priorities and community engagements.

On March 14, 2025, LaHood emphasized the Republican Party's commitment to fulfilling their electoral promises. He stated that "Republicans were given a mandate by the American people." The congressman highlighted efforts by the House Ways and Means Committee to legislate on making "President Trump's historic tax cuts permanent," as well as measures aimed at strengthening U.S. competitiveness and supporting the working class.

Later that day, LaHood expressed his honor in addressing new American citizens at a naturalization ceremony in Peoria. Reflecting on his own family history, he remarked on how "this group dedicated themselves to learning the history and values of our country," drawing parallels with his great grandparents' pursuit of the American Dream.

In another engagement on March 14, LaHood met with Dr. Jamel Wright, President of Eureka College. He discussed future projects and commended her for her contributions to the college community: "I appreciate the phenomenal work she does to support the college’s students and faculty!"
