Darin LaHood, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois' 16th district since 2015, has been vocal on various issues through his social media presence. Born in Peoria, Illinois, LaHood holds degrees from Loras College and John Marshall Law School in Chicago.

On March 18, 2025, LaHood expressed gratitude towards farmers in his district. He stated that "Farmers are the backbone of #IL16. Today, I want to thank them for their hard work, resilience, and dedication to feed our families and communities." He acknowledged their contributions on National Agriculture Day.

Later that day, he commented on the enforcement of immigration laws under the Trump administration. In a tweet posted at 20:24 UTC, he remarked that "Under the Trump administration, mayors of sanctuary cities are going to find out what happens when they refuse to enforce immigration laws and comply with federal officials." He also criticized Mayor Johnson's approach by stating "One thing is clear, Mayor Johnson is out of touch with the people of Chicago."

In another post made at 22:16 UTC on the same day, LaHood addressed international issues concerning Hamas. He emphasized that "Hamas’, a brutal terrorist organization, refusal to release the hostages is a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement." Furthermore, he highlighted President Trump's stance by stating "President Trump and his team have been clear. Hamas must unconditionally and safely release all hostages, including five Americans, immediately."
