Darin LaHood supports local jobs, visits community programs, and receives award for traditional values

Darin LaHood, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois’ 16th district since 2015, has been active in highlighting his initiatives related to community services, jobs, and traditional values in recent social media posts. His ongoing work in supporting local communities in Illinois reflects various actions undertaken to address both community and national issues.

On April 16, 2025, Congressman LaHood emphasized the importance of the Peoria Mail Processing and Distribution Center. In a collaboration with Representative Eric Sorensen, he worked to safeguard jobs in central Illinois. LaHood stated, "The Peoria Mail Processing and Distribution Center provides essential services to our local communities, small businesses, farmers, and veterans." He expressed pride in a recent development concerning the USPS.

Later the same day, Congressman LaHood shared his experience volunteering with the Neighborhood House in Peoria as part of their Meals on Wheels program. He expressed gratitude to the team led by Julie Bonar for their effort in supporting Peoria and Tazewell Counties. LaHood wrote, "It was great to visit the Neighborhood House in Peoria to play a small role in their Meals on Wheels program and tour their facility."

On April 17, 2025, LaHood announced receiving an award from FRC Action for his support of traditional Midwestern values, specifically promoting faith, family, and freedom. He remarked on the core fundamentals of the country, stating, "I am proud to receive an award from @FRCAction for supporting traditional Midwestern values to promote faith, family, and freedom."

Darin LaHood, born in Peoria, Illinois, in 1968, continues to reside in his hometown. An alumnus of Loras College and John Marshall Law School, Chicago, he succeeded Aaron Schock in 2015 to represent Illinois’ 16th district.
