Darin LaHood addresses local community initiatives and national security in tweets

Darin LaHood, presently serving as the U.S. Congressman for Illinois' 16th district, shared recent updates through a series of tweets. LaHood, who replaced Aaron Schock in 2015, continues to be involved in various community and legislative activities, reflecting his commitment to public service. LaHood, born in Peoria, Illinois in 1968, holds a BA from Loras College and a JD from John Marshall Law School in Chicago.

On April 17, 2025, Congressman LaHood mentioned his visit to the Carlson Boys & Girls Club in Machesney Park. In his words, "The Carlson Boys & Girls Club in Machesney Park goes above and beyond to support students’ social and educational growth." He thanked Sheila and Chip for hosting him and acknowledged their dedication to the local youth's success.

Later that day, LaHood discussed national security concerns through a tweet regarding a report by the Committee on the China Commission. He stated that "The @CommitteeonCCP's report highlights the significant risk of companies with ties to the CCP that pose a direct threat to national security." He also mentioned his involvement in the creation of a bill co-sponsored by Rep. Josh G, named the No DeepSeek on Government Devices Act, aimed at preventing adversaries from acquiring sensitive information.

On April 18, 2025, LaHood shared a message centered on reflection and peace, wishing his followers a blessed Good Friday. He expressed, "Today is a time for peace, reflection, and repentance. I hope everyone who celebrates the Easter season has a blessed Good Friday."

Darin LaHood has served in the U.S. Congress, representing Illinois's 16th District, since 2015. He was born in Peoria, Illinois, in 1968 and currently resides there. LaHood graduated from Loras College with a BA and earned a JD from John Marshall Law School, Chicago.
