Sidewalk construction has commenced at Fulton Plaza on SW Jefferson Avenue, resulting in the closure of sidewalks near 331 Fulton Street and 120 SW Jefferson Avenue. Pedestrians in the area are advised to be cautious and utilize the next available intersection for crossing.

Progress is noted at several intersections which are nearing completion and will soon reopen to pedestrian traffic. These intersections include the southwest corners of SW Jefferson Avenue and Liberty Street, SW Harrison Street and Jefferson Avenue, as well as the northwest and northeast corners of SW Adams Street and N William Kumpf Boulevard.

Sidewalk removal is anticipated to begin shortly at the southeast corner of Main Street and NE Jefferson Avenue, in proximity to the Peoria County Courthouse.

Pedestrians are reminded to remain vigilant in areas with closed sidewalks and to cross at the nearest available intersection. On-street parking restrictions are in place, and drivers should pay attention to available, unbagged parking meters. Parking is prohibited where meters are bagged with “No Parking” indications.

As the Adams Street and Jefferson Avenue One-Way to Two-Way (OWTW) Conversion Project advances, further parking, lane, and sidewalk restrictions will be announced.

Drivers are urged to be aware of workers, adhere to parking restrictions, and exercise increased caution in the area.
