Darin LaHood, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois' 16th district since 2015, has shared several statements on social media reflecting his positions and acknowledgments regarding current issues and community contributions. Born in Peoria, Illinois in 1968, LaHood has a background in law with degrees from Loras College and John Marshall Law School.

On May 6, 2025, LaHood expressed strong opposition to Iran's nuclear ambitions. He stated that "A nuclear Iran is unacceptable, and the US must do everything we can to prevent this from happening." He voiced his support for the Solidify Iran Sanctions Act of 2025 as a measure to curb financial flows to Tehran.

In another post on the same day, LaHood acknowledged Mike McCoy's long-standing service in law enforcement. He remarked on McCoy's career by stating "From his time as Peoria County Sheriff, to serving as Washington Police Chief, Mike McCoy has made significant contributions to the safety and wellbeing of communities across central Illinois." LaHood extended his gratitude for McCoy’s nearly five decades of public service.

Later that day, LaHood celebrated National Teacher Appreciation Day by recognizing educators within his district. He wrote "Happy National Teacher Appreciation Day to all the incredible educators across #IL16!" expressing appreciation for their dedication and commitment to students’ futures.

Darin LaHood succeeded Aaron Schock in Congress and continues to reside in Peoria where he remains active in legislative matters affecting both national policy and local community affairs.
