Today, Congressman Darin LaHood expressed his support for the House Ways and Means Committee's recent approval of the One, Big, Beautiful Bill. As Chairman of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Work and Welfare, LaHood emphasized the bill's potential to provide tax relief to various groups.
"The House Ways and Means Committee voted to provide hardworking Americans, seniors, small businesses, and farmers with much-needed and immediate tax relief," stated Rep. LaHood. He added that this legislation aligns with promises made by Republicans and former President Trump regarding tax cuts.
The bill incorporates several priorities championed by Rep. LaHood:
- **Low-Income Housing Tax Credit**: The bill aims to renew and expand this credit, enhancing rural low-income housing development. This follows provisions from the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act introduced by LaHood in April 2025.
- **Health Savings Accounts**: The Health Savings for Families Act is included in the legislation, offering families more options to manage healthcare costs through accessible health savings accounts.
- **Tax Relief for Beauty Industry**: The bill extends FICA tip tax benefits to beauty salons. This follows LaHood's introduction of related legislation in April 2025 aimed at supporting salon employees who depend on tips.
- **Support for Farmers and Biofuels**: By extending the 45Z Clean Fuel Production Credit through 2031, the bill supports job creation and market expansion in rural areas.
The legislation also seeks to make permanent certain measures such as Trump's historic tax cuts, doubling of the Child Tax Credit for over 40 million families, expanding childcare access, boosting small business deductions under Section 199A to create jobs and economic growth, increasing Death Tax Exemption for family-owned farms, generating growth from American manufacturers worth $284 billion, and securing six million jobs.
