Darin LaHood, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois' 16th district since 2015, recently shared his thoughts on several important issues via social media. LaHood, who succeeded Aaron Schock in Congress and holds degrees from Loras College and John Marshall Law School, addressed topics ranging from veterans' recognition to housing legislation and fiscal policy.

On May 20, 2025, LaHood expressed gratitude towards Illinois veterans traveling with the #VetsRoll program. He stated: "I was grateful for the opportunity to thank our Illinois veterans who traveled from Rockford to D.C. with the #VetsRoll program today." He emphasized the importance of recognizing the service and dedication of these individuals.

The following day, May 21, 2025, LaHood refuted claims regarding a lack of support for low-income housing in recent legislation. He asserted: "Once again, Democrats are claiming that there is nothing in the Big, Beautiful Bill to support low-income housing. This is false." He highlighted that language from his bipartisan affordable housing bill was included to aid in constructing thousands of homes.

On May 22, 2025, LaHood discussed actions taken by House Republicans concerning tax policies and national security. He noted: "This morning, @HouseGOP voted to prevent the largest tax increase in American history, secure our southern border, bolster the U.S. military, and make government more efficient." According to him, these measures were part of fulfilling promises made to the American public.

Darin LaHood has been an active member of Congress since taking office in 2015. Born in Peoria in 1968 and residing there currently at age 54, he continues his work representing Illinois’ interests on Capitol Hill.
