Darin LaHood, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Illinois' 16th district since 2015, has been actively addressing various issues through his legislative efforts and public engagements. On June 4, 2025, LaHood emphasized the importance of supporting those affected by the opioid crisis and substance use disorders. He stated, "To help those affected by the opioid crisis and substance use disorders, Congress must continue to invest and bolster addiction treatment services." He further noted his support for the SUPPORT Act of 2025 as part of efforts to enhance prevention measures and expand access to addiction treatment services in Illinois' 16th district.

The following day, on June 5, LaHood shared his experience meeting with students from Bloomington-Normal. He expressed that "It was great to meet with a group of students from Bloomington-Normal! The future of our government starts with engaged, informed students." He highlighted the significance of class trips in helping students understand Congress's role in democracy and promoting civic engagement.

Later on June 5, LaHood spoke at an event organized by the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition. During this engagement, he discussed the potential benefits of expanding the Affordable Housing Tax Credit. According to LaHood's statement on social media: "I was honored to speak at the @AHTCCoalition to discuss the impact that the expansion of the Affordable Housing Tax Credit will have in #IL16." This initiative aims to prioritize rural development and allocate more resources for communities nationwide.

Darin LaHood continues to serve as a dedicated representative for Illinois’ 16th district since taking over from Aaron Schock in 2015.
