Darin LaHood, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois' 16th district since 2015, has been vocal on international and national security issues through his recent tweets. Born in Peoria, Illinois in 1968, LaHood continues to engage with critical geopolitical matters and legislative initiatives.

On June 13, 2025, LaHood expressed concern over the Israeli strikes against Iranian targets. He stated that "Tehran cannot develop a nuclear weapon, if they did, it would have devastating consequences for the world." Emphasizing the United States' support for Israel, he underscored the importance of preventing Iran from advancing its nuclear capabilities.

In another tweet on the same day, LaHood shared a link without additional commentary or context: "https://t.co/82iATtMpBp". The content of this link remains unspecified within his social media communication.

Later that day, as a member of both the Committee on CCP and House Intelligence Committee, LaHood addressed concerns regarding China's actions towards American technology. He noted that "the CCP is aggressively targeting our advanced Al tech to undermine national security." To counteract these threats, he introduced the Advanced AI Security Readiness Act aimed at safeguarding critical technological advancements from foreign adversaries.

Darin LaHood's educational background includes a BA from Loras College and a JD from John Marshall Law School in Chicago. His tenure in Congress follows his predecessor Aaron Schock's departure in 2015.
