U.S. Congressman Darin LaHood, who represents Illinois’ 16th district, recently used his social media platform to address a range of topics including national security, local industry milestones, and law enforcement recognition.

On September 19, 2025, LaHood expressed his stance on the ongoing debate surrounding TikTok’s ownership structure and national security concerns. In his post, he stated: "A TikTok divestment deal that maintains any connection to the CCP or ByteDance is a non-starter. To protect Americans’ personal data and our national security any deal must comply with the bipartisan law passed by Congress and sever all of TikTok’s ties to Beijing."

Two days later, on September 21, 2025, LaHood attended Caterpillar Inc.’s Centennial Fest in Peoria. He marked the company’s milestone by meeting its new CEO Joe Creed and presenting him with an official Congressional Record. LaHood wrote: "It was great to meet @CaterpillarInc’s new CEO Joe Creed and present him with a Congressional Record honoring their 100th Anniversary at the Caterpillar Centennial Fest in Peoria this morning! I enjoyed visiting with current and former employees who have helped build"

Later that day, LaHood also participated in the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association annual conference in East Peoria. He highlighted the organization’s contributions by stating: "The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association plays an essential role in upholding the rule of law, supporting our police officers, and protecting our communities. It was an honor to speak at their annual conference in East Peoria to recognize their dedication and the sacrifices they make"

LaHood has served as U.S. Representative for Illinois' 16th district since replacing Aaron Schock in 2015. In the most recent general election held in 2022, he secured re-election by defeating Elizabeth Haderlein with 66.3% of the vote.
