Pavement sealing is set to begin on various streets across the City of Peoria starting Wednesday, September 24. Residents whose properties are directly affected will receive a door hanger notice 24 hours before the work begins.
Parking restrictions and traffic signs will be posted along the impacted streets. On-street parking will not be allowed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and these restrictions will remain until the completion of each section and removal of the no parking signs.
Work crews will seal one side of the street at a time. Flaggers will manage traffic flow, allowing vehicles to travel in one direction on the open half of the street. The pavement seal typically takes between one and two hours to cure, after which full access for vehicles will resume. Emergency services will have continuous access throughout the process.
The sealing project covers streets that received sealcoat treatments earlier this year, including those in Chadwick Estates and Chadwick Place Subdivisions. In a statement, city officials said: "The City appreciates the public’s patience while these roadway treatments are applied."
