Beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, Main Street and N.E. Adams Street in Peoria will be closed to accommodate the Peoria County Bicentennial Celebration. The closures will remain in effect until noon on Sunday, October 5. The event is sponsored by Peoria County.
Drivers are advised to exercise caution around the affected areas, specifically the 300 block of Main Street and the 100 block of N.E. Adams Street.
The road closures include N.E. Adams Street between Main Street and Hamilton Boulevard, as well as Main Street between N.E. Jefferson Avenue and N.E. Adams Street. Additionally, westbound lanes of Main Street from N.E. Adams Street to N.E. Washington Street will not be open for through traffic; however, right turns onto Main Street from S.W. Adams Street will still be allowed.
Parking restrictions will also be enforced during this period in the 300 block of Main Street and along the west side of S.W. Adams Street from Niagara Parking Deck at 111 S.W. Adams Street to Main Street.
Detour routes have been established for both streets: through traffic on Adams should use southbound Main to northeast-bound Washington, while through traffic on Main should use Hamilton Boulevard from either N.E. Washington or N.E Perry Avenue.
